A gala welcome awaited Jan Garber when he arrived in Avalon on the steamer Catalina. He was greeted with a handshake from Dick Jurgens, the retiring Casino maestro, and charming Miss Frances Slaugh. Garber's orchestra opened its fourth season at the Catalina Casino on July 1, 1937.
